🌍 English Translation (Simplified)

Humility, absence of pride, non-violence, forgiveness, simplicity,
reverence for teachers, purity, steadiness, self-control…

Preference for solitude, disinterest in worldly crowds,
constant pursuit of inner knowledge and truth —
this is declared as true knowledge.
Anything else is ignorance.

🧭 Context in the Gita

In Chapter 13, Krishna speaks of Kṣetra and Kṣetrajña — the field (body-mind) and the knower of the field (the Self). He then lists the 26 qualities of true wisdom, shattering the idea that knowledge means bookish learning or sharp intellect.

Knowledge is not how much you know — it’s how you live.

🔍 Key Qualities & Meanings

🔹 अमानित्वम् (Humility)

No arrogance in learning. The truly wise bow before all.

🔹 अदम्भित्वम् (Sincerity)

No spiritual show-off. No need to impress. What is inside reflects outside.

🔹 अहिंसा (Non-violence)

Not just physical, but mental — don’t hurt others by speech or thoughts.

🔹 कान्तिः + क्षान्तिः (Simplicity + Forgiveness)

Let go of past grudges. A wise one doesn’t carry the baggage of blame.

🔹 आचार्योपासनं (Reverence for teachers)

True seekers bow to those who guide — with gratitude, not ego.

🔹 विविक्तदेशसेवित्वम् (Loving solitude)

Time alone is not loneliness — it’s where the soul breathes.

🔹 अध्यात्मज्ञाननित्यत्वम् (Steady pursuit of self-knowledge)

Wisdom grows not from debate, but from daily self-inquiry.

🔹 एतज्ज्ञानम् (This is true knowledge)

All these qualities together are called jñāna — knowledge that transforms, not informs.
