🌍 English Translation

The one who is united (in yoga) and knows the truth thinks:
“I do nothing at all.”
While seeing, hearing, touching, smelling, eating, going, sleeping, breathing…

Speaking, releasing, grasping, opening and closing the eyes —
Such a person knows:
“It is only the senses acting upon their objects.”

🧭 Context in the Gita

In Chapter 5 – Karma Sannyāsa Yoga, Krishna resolves the paradox of action and renunciation. He reveals the ultimate secret of karma yoga:

Even while performing action, the wise feel free of doership.

This shloka invites us to detach from ego — not by escaping the world, but by living with inner detachment.

🔍 Line-by-Line Explanation

🔹 नैव किंचित्करोमीति युक्तो मन्येत तत्त्ववित्

“I do nothing at all” — says the wise, united one…
This is not irresponsibility. It’s ego-free action. The body and senses act, but the inner Self remains untouched.

🔹 पश्यन् शृण्वन् स्पृशन् जिघ्रन्…

Seeing, hearing, touching, smelling…
All daily activities — from eating to breathing — continue naturally. But the yogi knows: I am not these actions.

🔹 इन्द्रियाणि इन्द्रियार्थेषु वर्तन्ते

“The senses engage with their respective objects…”
This is the secret of detachment — watch life happening through you, not by you.

🧠 Modern Life Applications

📱 Productivity Without Ego

  • Do your tasks with attention, but without over-identifying:
“I’m doing this perfectly,” or “I’m failing.”
Drop the inner drama — just act mindfully.

❤️ In Relationships

  • Speak, care, give — but without ownership:
“I am the lover, not the controller.”
Let actions flow naturally, without ego’s grip.

🧘 Mindfulness Practice

  • Observe your body eating, your mind thinking.
Say to yourself: “This is happening. I am watching.”
This shift creates inner calm and clarity.

✨ Real-Life Analogy

Like the sun shining — it gives life, warmth, light.
But it does not say: “I am making flowers bloom.”

Be like that: act without ownership, give without pride, shine without need.

📿 Daily Practice Tip (Layman-Friendly)

✅ Pick one simple task today — washing hands, walking, or brushing your teeth.
As you do it, silently say:

“This is the body acting. I am the witness.”

This tiny practice shifts you into karma yoga — freedom in action.

🪔 Takeaway Affirmation

🎵 I move and speak, but I am still,
Beyond the push of pride or will.
The senses act — not ‘I’, not ‘mine’,
In silent peace, my Self does shine.
