🕯 Sukhakarta Dukhaharta Aarti

(The most famous Aarti of Lord Ganesha in Maharashtra)
Composed by the great saint Samarth Ramdas in Marathi, this Aarti is an emotional, powerful hymn describing Lord Ganesha as the remover of sorrow and the bestower of joy.

1.
सुखकर्ता दुखहर्ता वार्ता विघ्नाची।
नुरवी पुरवी प्रेम कृपा जयाची॥

Sukhakartā dukhhahartā vārtā vighnāchī
Nuravī puravī prem kr̥pā jayāchī

He who brings joy, removes all sorrow,
The one who listens and fulfils—His grace and love are boundless!


2.
सर्वांगी सुंदर उटी शेंदुराची।
कंठी झळके माळ मुक्ताफळांची॥

Sarvāṅgī sundar uṭī śendurācī
Kaṇṭhī jhaḷake māḷā muktāphaḷāñchī

With a beautiful body smeared in red sandalwood paste,
A pearl garland sparkles around His neck.

जय देव जय देव जय मंगलमूर्ती।
दर्शनमात्रे मनः कामना पूर्ण होती॥

Jaya deva jaya deva jaya maṅgalamūrti
Darśanamātre manaḥ kāmanā pūrṇa hotī

Victory to You, O Divine, O Auspicious One!
By mere sight of You, all heart’s desires are fulfilled.

रत्नखचित फरा तुझ गौरीनंदना।
लांबोदरा पीतांबर फणिवरबंधना॥

Ratnakhacit pharā tujha Gaurīnandanā
Lāmbodara pītāmbara phaṇivarabandhanā

Your forehead is adorned with precious jewels, O Son of Gauri,
O Large-Bellied One, You wear a yellow cloth and a serpent as a waistband.

सरळ सोंड वक्रतुंड त्रिनयना।
दासांसी रक्षण कर्ता तू भगवंता॥

Saraḷa soṇḍa vakratuṇḍa trinayanā
Dāsānsī rakṣaṇa kartā tū bhagavanta

With a straight trunk and curved mouth, and three eyes,
You protect all Your devotees, O Divine Lord.

अंधळ्या दृष्टि दे तू चांढाळा बुद्धि दे।
मुक्ता सुनबाळा सुख दिले म्हणे समर्थ॥

Aṅdhaḷyā dṛṣṭi de tū chāṅḍhāḷā buddhi de
Muktā sunabāḷā sukha dile mhaṇe Samartha

You grant vision to the blind, wisdom to the foolish,
You’ve given joy to Muktā and Sunā—so says Samarth Ramdas.

जय देव जय देव जय मंगलमूर्ती।
दर्शनमात्रे मनः कामना पूर्ण होती॥

Jaya deva jaya deva jaya maṅgalamūrti
Darśanamātre manaḥ kāmanā pūrṇa hotī

Victory again, O divine and auspicious form!
