Dedicated to Lord Jagannātha, this Aarti is sung during evening lamp offering (Sandhyā Āratī) in the Jagannath Temple, Puri, and in homes throughout Odisha, Bengal, Assam, and Bihar.

🌅 Jaya Jagannātha Aarti – Part 1
1.
जय जगन्नाथ स्वामी नयनपथगामी भवतु मे॥
Jaya Jagannātha Swāmī nayanapatha-gāmī bhavatu me
Victory to Lord Jagannatha!
May He always be visible to the eyes of my soul.
2.
कदाचित् कालिन्दी-तट-विपिन- सङ्गीतकवरो
मुदाभीरी-नारी-वादन-चम्पक-सद्रशो॥
Kadācit Kālindī-taṭa-vipina-saṅgīta-kavaro
Mudābhīrī-nārī-vādana-campaka-sadraśo
Sometimes, on the Yamuna’s bank in a forest grove,
He plays sweet music, resembling the golden champaka flower, delighting in the company of gopīs.

सदा बिभ्रद्-वामांकल-स्थित-ललिता-कान्ति-लहरिं
जगन्नाथ स्वामी नयनपथगामी भवतु मे॥
Sadā bibhrad-vāmāṅkala-sthita-lalitā-kānti-lahariṁ
Jagannātha Swāmī nayanapatha-gāmī bhavatu me
Always holding Lalitā on His left side, the waves of beauty flow eternally—
May Lord Jagannātha appear before the eyes of my heart.

महाम्भोधेस्तीर-स्थित-नव-नीलाचल-विहारं
वरं लक्ष्मी-नारायणं जगत्-करणं करुणामयम्॥
Mahāmbhodhes-tīra-sthita-nava-Nīlācala-vihāraṁ
Varaṁ Lakṣmī-Nārāyaṇaṁ jagat-kāraṇaṁ karuṇāmayam
He resides by the great ocean, on the holy Nīlācala hill.
He is Lakshmi-Narayan Himself, compassionate cause of the universe.

रथारूढं माधवं पाण्डवप्रियं च
बलभद्रयुतं सुभद्रां च युक्तम्॥
Rathārūḍhaṁ Mādhavaṁ Pāṇḍava-priyaṁ ca
Balabhadra-yutaṁ Subhadrāṁ ca yuktam
He mounts the grand chariot, beloved of the Pandavas,
Accompanied by Balabhadra and sister Subhadrā.

जगन्नाथ स्वामी नयनपथगामी भवतु मे॥
Jagannātha Swāmī nayanapatha-gāmī bhavatu me
O Lord Jagannātha, may You always remain in the path of my eyes and mind.

रम्यं चेतो हृषीकेशं रमणीयं रथस्थं
श्रीकृष्णं पङ्कजाक्षं भक्तजनप्रियं हरिम्॥
Ramyaṁ ceto hṛṣīkeśaṁ ramaṇīyaṁ ratha-sthaṁ
Śrī-Kṛṣṇaṁ paṅkajā-kṣaṁ bhakta-jana-priyaṁ Harim
Let my heart delight in Hṛṣīkeśa, so lovely, standing on His chariot,
The lotus-eyed Krishna, beloved of devotees, Hari Himself.

शङ्खचक्रधरं देवं गरुडारूढमक्षयम्
पद्मनाभं भक्तनिधिं जगन्नाथं नमाम्यहम्॥
Śaṅkha-cakra-dharaṁ devaṁ Garuḍārūḍham-akṣayam
Padmanābhaṁ bhakta-nidhiṁ Jagannāthaṁ namāmy-aham
I bow to Jagannatha, the eternal Lord holding the conch and discus,
Riding Garuda, bearing the lotus-navel, treasure of the devotees.

सर्वदेव-स्वरूपं च सर्वशक्त्यात्मकं प्रभुम्
सर्वावतर-विग्राहं नमामि जगतां गुरुम्॥
Sarva-deva-svarūpaṁ ca sarva-śakty-ātmakaṁ prabhum
Sarvāvatāra-vigrahaṁ namāmi jagatāṁ gurum
I bow to the Guru of the universe,
Who is the embodiment of all deities and powers, the form of every divine incarnation.

नमो नमस्ते जगतां नमस्ते
नमो जगन्नाथ नमो नमस्ते॥
Namo namaste jagatāṁ namaste
Namo Jagannātha namo namaste
Repeated salutations to You, O Lord of the Universe,
O Jagannātha, I offer countless humble bows.

यत्र यत्र रथयात्रा पवित्रतमा भवेत्।
तत्र तत्र स्थितो विष्णुः पायान्मे सर्वदा प्रभुः॥
Yatra yatra ratha-yātrā pavitratamā bhavet
Tatra tatra sthito Viṣṇuḥ pāyān me sarvadā prabhuḥ
Wherever the sacred Ratha Yatra (Chariot Festival) takes place,
There, Lord Vishnu surely dwells—may He protect me always!

नमो भगवते तस्मै विश्वनाथाय वेधसे।
जगन्नाथाय शुद्धाय भक्तानां प्रियकारिणे॥
Namo Bhagavate tasmai Viśvanāthāya vedhase
Jagannāthāya śuddhāya bhaktānāṁ priyakāriṇe
Salutations to Bhagavān, the Creator, Lord of the Universe,
To Jagannātha—the pure One and beloved of devotees.

पुण्यश्लोको नित्यकीर्तिः सत्यधर्मपरायणः।
भवबन्धविमोक्तारं जगन्नाथं नमाम्यहम्॥
Puṇyaśloko nitya-kīrtiḥ satya-dharma-parāyaṇaḥ
Bhava-bandha-vimoktāraṁ Jagannāthaṁ namāmy-aham
I bow to Jagannātha, of sacred fame and eternal glory,
Upholder of righteousness and liberator from the bonds of birth and death.

वासुदेवं हरिं कृष्णं श्रीनिवासं जनार्दनम्।
भक्तानामभयं दातुं जगन्नाथं नमाम्यहम्॥
Vāsudevaṁ Hariṁ Kṛṣṇaṁ Śrīnivāsaṁ Janārdanam
Bhaktānām-abhayaṁ dātuṁ Jagannāthaṁ namāmy-aham
I bow to Jagannātha—Vāsudeva, Hari, Krishna, Śrīnivāsa, Janārdana—
Who grants fearlessness and refuge to His devotees.

दर्शनेन भवेद् पुण्यं
श्रोत्रेणापि विमोचनम्।
स्पर्शनेन च दोषघ्नं
जगन्नाथं नमाम्यहम्॥
Darśanena bhaved puṇyaṁ
Śrotreṇa-api vimocanam
Sparśanena ca doṣa-ghnaṁ
Jagannāthaṁ namāmy-aham
Just by His darshan (sight) one gains merit,
By hearing His name, one is liberated.
By His touch, sins are destroyed—O Jagannātha, I bow to You!

रत्नसिंहासनस्थं नानारत्न विभूषितम्।
शुद्धस्फटिकसङ्काशं जगन्नाथं नमाम्यहम्॥
Ratna-siṁhāsana-sthaṁ nānā-ratna-vibhūṣitam
Śuddha-sphaṭika-saṅkāśaṁ Jagannāthaṁ namāmy-aham
Seated on a throne of jewels, adorned with many precious stones,
He shines like pure crystal—Jagannātha, I bow to You!

शंखचक्रगदाहस्तं पीताम्बरधरं हरिम्।
सरोजनेत्रं श्रीवक्षं जगन्नाथं नमाम्यहम्॥
Śaṅkha-cakra-gadā-hastaṁ pītāmbara-dharaṁ Harim
Saroja-netraṁ Śrī-vakṣaṁ Jagannāthaṁ namāmy-aham
With conch, discus, and mace in hand, wearing golden-yellow robes,
Lotus-eyed, bearing Lakshmi on His chest—Jagannātha, I bow to You!

नमः करालवदनाय रौद्ररूपाय वै नमः।
नमः कृष्णाय शुद्धाय शान्ताय हरये नमः॥
Namaḥ karāla-vadanāya raudra-rūpāya vai namaḥ
Namaḥ Kṛṣṇāya śuddhāya śāntāya Haraye namaḥ
Salutations to the fierce-faced, terrifying form,
And also to Krishna—the pure, peaceful form of Hari. Both are You.

या श्रीः स्वयं सुकृतिनां भवनेषु लक्ष्मीः
पापात्मनां कृतधियां हृदयेषु बुद्धिः।
श्रद्धा सतां कुलजनप्रभवस्य लज्जा
तां त्वां नताः स्म जगन्नाथ दयापय नः॥
Yā Śrīḥ svayaṁ sukṛtināṁ bhavaneṣu Lakṣmīḥ
Pāpātmanāṁ kṛtadhiyāṁ hṛdayeṣu buddhiḥ
Śraddhā satāṁ kulajana-prabhavasya lajjā
Tāṁ tvāṁ natāḥ sma Jagannātha dayāpaya naḥ
O Jagannātha! You are Lakshmi in the homes of the virtuous,
Wisdom in the hearts of the sinful who seek You,
Faith among the noble, and modesty among the good—
We bow to You, please bless us with Your mercy!
